Domino’s raising ‘dough’ for the
Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter

More than 40 Domino’s stores across Auckland will donate $1 from every pizza sold on Thursday 23 June between 4pm – 9pm to the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter – a non-profit service that provides emergency air ambulance and search and rescue services to those in need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Each year, the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter responds to more than 1,000 emergency callouts across the Auckland and Coromandel regions – responding to accidents, medical emergencies, search and rescue operations and patient transfers.

All of the funds raised on the day will be used to support vital missions by the rescue helicopter that make a real difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones in the community.

Domino’s Auckland Franchisee Aman Singh said with the number of people living in remote areas across the Auckland region, Domino’s recognises the rescue helicopter service is an incredibly vital one, which is why so many stores are committed to offering their support.

“The Trust contributes $5,000 towards the cost of every rescue helicopter mission, and with the help of pizza lovers across the Auckland region, we are aiming to fundraise more than $15,000 in just one day – the cost of three missions in our community – it may mean the difference between life and death for any one of these patients,” said Mr Singh.

“Our teams are proud to support the everyday heroes in the brave men and women who work as pilots, doctors, air crew officers and paramedics on board the rescue helicopter and look forward to contributing to the charity’s amazing work.”

“As a local business owner, I’m proud to live and work in this community and know that, together, we can help the important service.”

In trauma cases, such as road accidents and medical emergencies, getting a patient to urgent medical care within 60 minutes can significantly increase their chance of survival or making a full recovery.

Shaan Hulena, General Manager of Fundraising for the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust said he is delighted that the service, and ultimately those in urgent medical need, will benefit from Domino's ‘doughraiser’.

"It's a wonderful initiative and we will be encouraging everyone to treat themselves to a Domino's pizza on Thursday night," he said.

This Thursday, Domino’s stores across the Auckland region will come together to raise funds for the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust, donating $1 from every pizza sold between 4pm – 9pm in support of the Helicopter’s live saving missions.

Participating Domino’s stores include: Beachlands, Point Chevalier, Shortland Street, Auckland City, Quay Street, Whangaparaoa, Red Beach, Pukekohe, Mount Wellington, Henderson, Kumeu, Hobsonville, Massey, Warkworth, Papatoetoe, Meadowbank, Ponsonby, Albany, Te Atatu Peninsula, Mount Eden, Mangere, Te Atatu South, St Heliers, Newmarket, Highland Park, Belmont, Glen Eden, Onehunga, Otahuhu, Glenfield, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Sandringham, Botany, Howick, Blockhouse Bay, Mt Roskill, Thames, Glen Innes, Pakuranga, Forrest Hill, Manukau, Manurewa, Clendon Park.
